Sophie Arnoux made this snow pony from snow that landed at her property in Taranaki on Monday 15th Aug 2011. Its so lifelike!
My kids Conor and Niamh were excited to hear about the snow that landed here at midday on Monday 15th August 2011, of course they were at school and no snow landed there.

It only snowed for half an hour but the temperature got down to a chilly 2 degrees C, and the snow sat on the ground in the shade of trees for a couple more hours.I rushed out to put Riordan in the stables as we have been treating his rain scalded back by stabling him. He was so relieved to come into the stables which is quite unlike him, he hated the flakes in front of his eyes.

In this photo he and Riley are looking cold and perplexed. I had to shoo the ducks out of the stables cos they found it very cold as well and had set up their noisy camp in there. i couldnt hear the radio for all the quacking.
In the evening the kids couldnt get to sleep and kept running outside into the many hail storms that came overnight. The picnic table and roofs were covered in hail which froze and only melted when the sun came up the next day. It was like the French Alps all over again.
